Us
Southern Maine Cycling Club (SMCC) has been promoting cycling and racing since 1995. The Base36/SMCC racing team is a subset of elite racers belonging to SMCC competing throughout the New England and Mid-Atlantic regions. Our team has riders who compete in Road, Mountain, Time Trialing, and Cyclocross and has enjoyed impressive regional results in all disciplines. We race with great tenacity yet still have a great time. See the Racer Bio's page for more information about individual riders (coming soon).
Beyond the bike Base36 racers are not only distinquished professionals in their respective areas of work but are also stalwarts in the cycling community and have worked to raise money with SMCC for various charities and promote safety in all aspects of cycling. They promote several annual events: the Saco Criterium, Scarborough Criterium Series, the Casco Bay Cyclocross Race, and the Old Orchard Criterium, an event in its first year for the 2009 season. A very large portion of the profits from these races is donated to local charities. Some recent recipients include The Bicycle Coalition of Maine, Bradbury Mountain State Park, and The Community Bicycle Center, The Aaron Drisco Scholarship Fund, Northern York County YMCA, Biddeford Teen Center, and the Kennebunk Volunteer Fire Company.
